Best configuration for multiplayer?

Post by Maxaxle » 2 years ago

I'm hoping to get back into Nightfire multiplayer, but first I need to know what would be best.
1. Version 1.0 or 1.1?
2. Should I add "-chunk 64 -heap 512" to the shortcut parameters or not?
3. Which custom maps are most common?
3.a. Who has the best custom maps?
4. Are there any regular meet-ups or regular games I should know about?

Note that with 1.0 and 1.1 you can't connect to servers as the official gamespy masterserver has stopped.

Spida certainly did a great job copying maps from other games without having the rights to and publish them to Nightfire under a different name pretending he designed the entire thing. :D

Did you know the old PC game is dead? So nope, there are no regular games or meet-ups.

Spida didn't make any real maps, they were all copied from other games. Ehrgeiz, Ziyo1, and I have made the most in depth maps for the original game, including completely new missions with graphics that rival or exceed the original game.

Don't use 1.0 or 1.1. Download the latest patch at www.nightfirepc.com and all the maps you want to download can be seen at http://nightfire.no-ip.org/maps. The latest patch automatically downloads new maps as you join servers.

ctf_casino isn't a new map. it's just dm_casino with convoluted spawns and flags placed that make no sense. if anything, you should give credit to Ultimate Sniper for ctf_gamble which is a MUCH better map for CTF which is just like dm_casino but built for CTF.
